PCS ACHIEVES 45 MILLION HOURS WORKED WITHOUT LOST TIME INCIDENT

30 Jan 2020

Petrochemical Corporation of Singapore (Private) Limited, PCS, and its contractors have achieved a combined 45 million hours worked without Lost Time Incident (LTI) on 27 January 2020.

This achievement is significant, in the context of a major hazard installation, and further underlines that we, PCS, in partnering with our contractors, do not compromise on health and safety, governing every aspect of our operations and business.

Our three core programmes, Behaviour Based Safety (BBS), Speak Out for Safety (SOS) and STop And Report (STAR), along with Near Miss reporting for lessons learnt, play a significant role in the functioning of a healthy and safe workplace. Our employees’ and contractors’ support and positive influence on their peers are vital in our work environment.

Everyone has a part to contribute, being conscientious and proactive in creating and ensuring a healthy and safe work environment. Keeping this culture alive and well, and passing on similar behavioural traits and good practices, as well as knowledge to sustain competency, ensure that each and every one of us goes home healthy and safe.

Such exemplary performance can only be achieved by working with a belief that “all injuries and ill-health at work can be prevented and zero harm is possible”, embracing the Vision Zero mindset.

PCS Managing Director, Mr Akira Yonemura, in his congratulatory message highlighted: “Each of you have contributed individually as well as “One Team, One PCS” and you deserve this recognition. Thank you for your efforts in achieving this milestone, and securing the health and safety of our workforce”.

PCS will continue its collaborative health and safety approach, partnering its contractors, strengthening ownership and working together to eliminate hazards and hazardous exposures in its workplace.
